FibraLink Jamaica is an
international telecommunications company that owns and
operates a sub-sea fibre optic network that links Jamaica to
the continental United States. In January 2005,
FibraLink Jamaica was awarded a coveted telecommunications
license by the Government of Jamaica to build and operate a
submarine fibre optic cable system linking Jamaica to the
rest of the world. During 2005, FibraLink Jamaica
engineered, designed, obtained the requisite regulatory
approvals in Jamaica and Dominican Republic, financed, and
substantially completed the construction of the FibraLink
Network. During the first quarter of 2006, FibraLink, with
the help of its technical partners, Alcatel, IT
International Telecom and New World Network provisioned,
tested and brought into service FibraLink’s network.
FibraLink Jamaica is a wholly owned subsidiary of
Columbus Communications Limited, (“Columbus”) a
Barbados-based International Business Corporation that holds
investments in telecommunication providers throughout the
greater Caribbean region.
Columbus provides strategic direction, private equity,
capital market expertise, marketing support and general
management oversight to each of its investments, but does
not actually operate any of the businesses or hold any
assets other than the shares of each investment entity.

Owns and operates an undersea fibre-optic cable system

Bahama, New Providence, Eleuthera, and Abaco - to the

A Jamaican corporation that was acquired by Columbus
effective February 1, 2005. Merit is a broadband service
provider in Jamaica and operates under the brand name
